Frogs and Feathers
On the morning of her birthday, 10-year-old Anna buries dead frogs by the lake, avoiding the celebration at home. Since her father’s passing, she clings to their shared rituals, convinced she can protect what he left behind. When her mother tries to reach out, Anna pushes her away—she doesn’t want a new hat, a cake, or to pretend everything is fine. But when she brings a living frog home and gives it a kiss, something unexpected happens—a boy appears in its place. Together, they set out to fight the birds that prey on the frogs, determined to rewrite the rules of nature. Yet as Anna’s fantasy begins to unravel, she faces a choice: keep holding on to the past, or finally let go.
